Nadine Elizabeth Louise Coyle
D.O.B: 15th June 1985
Starsign: Gemini
Hometown: Derry, Ireland
Marrital Satus: Boyfriend Jesse Metcalfe
Nadine Coyle, also known as Nadz or Diney, first found fame in 2001 when, while still at Thornhill College, Derry, she entered the Irish version of the talent show Popstars. As one of the winners of the show, Coyle was selected to become a member of the band Six. Shortly after the band was formed, the bandmates moved into a house together and all were interviewed on camera. Coyle gave a string of information about herself, but then stopped suddenly and whispered "What date of birth did I give...?". She initially maintained that she had simply made a mistake when stating her birthday, but later broke down off camera and admitted that she had lied about her age, and was in fact only 16 years old.
As the minimum age stipulated by the producers was 18, she had to be dropped from the band and returned to her secondary grammar school in Derry called Thornhill.
In 2002 Coyle returned to enter the UK talent show Popstars: The Rivals. As she pulled through the first few rounds her very first fansite opened, and soon she was on the way to the final night. She polled the third-highest number of votes in the final, and was chosen to join the band Girls Aloud, much to the delight of friend and new bandmate Kimberley Walsh. During the series she had been a hot favourite to make the band, especially after a stunning rendition of "Fields of Gold", which many believe was the performance of the series. She also sang "Show Me Heaven", "When I Fall In Love" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody". When asked to name a highlight from the show, presenter Davina McCall simply answered "Nadine".
With Girls Aloud she has scored fifteen top 10 singles (three of which have been #1s) and four platinum albums (including a #1) Nadine has sold in excess of 4.5 million copies in the UK alone with Girls Aloud. Nadine is often seen as "the voice" of the band. Nadine showed off her vocal talent whilst on tour with her bandmates in May and June 2005, and again during a UK arena tour in May and June 2006.
Louis Walsh has promised to make Nadine a solo star if and when Girls Aloud go their separate ways. However, she has constantly denied reports she will leave the girl group to become a solo artist.
Personal life
In 2004 Coyle split with her footballer boyfriend Neil McCafferty because of their busy schedules. The pair had met in school and had been dating since 2000, but would remain friends.
During Girls Aloud's promotional tour of Australia and New Zealand in February 2006, Coyle met Desperate Housewives actor Jesse Metcalfe, and rumours of a relationship started, which Nadine initially denied. Despite this, there had been pictures in the tabloids of Nadine and Jesse together, and numerous reports of them on dates together in London.
It was eventually confirmed that Nadine and Jesse were a couple, with the pair appearing in OK! Magazine to clear up false rumours about their relationship. This was a one-off for Nadine who usually likes to keep her personal life out of the public domain. Since they have been together, tabloids have been rife with 'news' about Jesse's affairs.
On November 16, 2006 it was reported the couple had split up - with the end of the relationship being confirmed by Nadine's father. However, on November 28, 2006, New! magazine released pictures suggesting that Nadine and Jesse were back together. The pair later confirmed they were still an item after a short 'break' proved too much for them.
Nadine has been frequently visiting L.A. since dating Jesse sparking rumours that, not only are the pair looking for a home and getting engaged, but also that she is set to launch a solo career. This has been denied by the singer who is quoted as saying "who in their right mind would leave Britain's biggest girl group?"
It was announced on March 19, 2007 that Coyle's boyfriend, Metcalfe, entered rehab to be treated for alcoholism, just days after rumours of marriage between the two.
On 21 April 2007 it was reported that Nadine had dumped Jesse Metcalfe, as days after entering rehab he was seen holding hands and hugging an unknown girl, while Nadine was shooting scenes for a cameo in a film with her band mates.

Cannabis controversy
On 8 June 2006, Walsh publicly apologised for smoking cannabis after being caught on camera smoking a spliff. She immediately owned up to it when questioned about the photo, which was taken on 31 December 2005, whilst she was attending a friend's party. She told The Sun newspaper that she had got caught up in the moment and was deeply sorry, and that she realised what she did was wrong, especially since she is in a position where young fans look up to her.
However, it was reported on 9 June 2006 that Walsh's father, John, denied that she had ever smoked cannabis, and that she was just holding a rolled up cigarette that wasn't even lit. He also claimed that Victoria Newton at The Sun pressured Kimberley into apologising for something that she hadn't done, threatening that if she didn't then Newton would make the story worse.
Despite this, Walsh admitted in an interview with The Times, on 20 October 2006, that she had taken a couple of puffs on the spliff, but didn't see the incident as a big deal.
